Former Manchester United striker backs Nunez, believes he will be better in the future.
Former Uruguay striker Diego Forlan has backed Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez, who believes he will improve in the future.
The 23-year-old, who joined Liverpool from Benfica for an initial £64m and could rise to £85m (add-ons) last summer, has now netted seven goals from Benfica. The last 10 matches in all competitions for the Reds
“I think he’s doing really well,” the former Manchester United striker.
“I think sometimes everyone expects to produce more goals. Or maybe it’s because of the amount they paid. But I think he did really well.
“He scores goals, he plays, it’s a tough job. Just like a team right now that is struggling. Because in the Premier League they haven’t done as well as they did a couple of years ago.
“But he has a great manager, experience, he will learn a lot from him (Jurgen Klopp) and from the players.
“So I think he is doing his job and he can definitely improve. He will improve in the future.”
Nunez is a top transfer target for Liverpool this summer, with Jurgen Klopp a big admirer of the 22-year-old. after he burst into form, scoring 34 goals from 41 appearances in all competitions
On June 9, “The Athletic”, the famous British media stated that Liverpool could reach a personal agreement with Nunez, but no deal has been agreed by both clubs.
